Ohio State Earns Commitment From South Dakota's 2015 OL

Grant Schmidt

Grant Schmidt's commitment to Ohio State makes him the fifth member of the Buckeye's 2015 recruiting class and the first from South Dakota. Schmidt has been a strong presence among the Eleven Warriors earlier this season, and now he has chosen to join the Buckeyes immediately following his second visit to the campus. With full support of his parents behind him, he is pleased with his decision. Schmidt told the players he loved what he saw at OSU and he thought Coach Warinner was incredible. He also got to know the various team coaches and the entire journey left him overwhelmed.

Schmidt, South Dakota's top prospect, also considered other competitive schools, including Cincinnati, Rutgers, Utah, North Carolina, and Washington State. Ultimately, he admitted his decision was an easy one to make, as the stadium was in a class all of its own. Schmidt brought along his family to Columbus, and they all left impressed with the school. During the Buckeye's Sunday camp, Schmidt was able to showcase his abilities in front of the coaching staff and leave a great impression.

The Schmidt family then toured the Ohio State campus and were happy with all that they saw. As he shifts his focus to the upcoming season, Grant hopes to play a pivotal role in the new football recruiting class. His philosophy is to love the game and let the rest fall into place, and as such, he is amendable to new coaching tactics and can see no future trouble.
