Jamarco Jones Will Decide Soon About Ohio State

Ohio State recruiting was hard at it once more last weekend, with the Buckeyes receiving offers for a couple of athletes, whilst appearing in Jamarco Jones' top 4 remaining schools. The '14 OL Jones has been a fixture on the Ohio State board for a reasonable amount of time now. In turn, the Buckeyes have made it onto Jones' final list of 4 schools he is considering and should get an official visit soon.

Kyle Berger Verbally Commits To Ohio State

Prior to a trip taken the previous weekend to do football practice on the campus of Ohio State, Kyle Berger (the Saint Ignatius linebacker) stated that he welcomed the prospect of receiving coaching from the staff at Ohio State football team. This took longer than many had hoped. However, the 205 pound, six foot three junior is another recruit for 2014 to give the Buckeye staff at Urban Meyer a verbal indication that he intends to join Kyle Trout and Marcelys Jones (offensive line prospects), Damon Webb (defensive back), Parris Campbell (running back), Sam Hubbard (S/ATH) and Dylan Thompson (DE).

Sam Hubbard Commits To Ohio State Football

Citing the experience as a "dream come true" via his Twitter account, four-star high school prospect Sam Hubbard gave a verbal commitment to join the Ohio State Football team in the fall season of 2014.  The six and a half foot tall safety decided that he would de-commit from an offer to join Notre Dame's lacrosse team and enter into the Ohio State athletic program.  A native of Cincinnati, the safety had an outstanding high school career.  In his junior year, he accounted for eighty tackles in addition to two interceptions and two forced fumbles.  Other teams hoping to land Sam Hubbard for their own football programs included Michigan, Louisville, Standford, and the University of Miami.

Dareian Watkins from Galion Ohio is rated as one of the best recruits for the upcoming 2014 class. Rivals.com has him rated as a 4 star recruit in their early national rating. He has offers from over 20 mid-west schools including Wisconsin, West Virginia, Purdue and Iowa. We recently discussed with him his college visit plans in addition to where teams stand with him over-all. He is yet to receive an offer from Urban Meyer and the Ohio State football program but has strong interest in the in-state program.

2014 Offensive Tackle Kyle Trout Commits to Ohio State

Ohio State was a little short in their numbers on the offensive line for their 2013 class so they went out right away and got local product Kyle Trout from Lancaster Ohio who is a national 250 Rivals recruit and should rank among the elite tackles in the 2014 class. The 6’6” 280 lbs. offensive lineman already had offers from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan State, and West Virginia. Ed Warinner and Luke Fickell were able to make contact early and close the deal this past weekend in Columbus.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have another wide receiver for their 2013 class and Desota Texas prospect Dontre Wilson is one of the best in the country. After Chip Kelley left for the NFL, a number of incoming Oregon recruits began to look around including Wilson who had considered Ohio State and Texas prior to his Duck commitment. A Rivals.com 100 member, he is the 6th best all-purpose running back for 2013 but will probably play slot receiver or kick returner as a freshman at Ohio State.

Over the weekend of January 11th, Ohio State got a nice surprise in the 2014 commitment of cornerback Damon Webb. The Michigan Cass Tech product is 6’0” 175lbs and plays both sides of the ball at his state title winning High School. Webb is a 4-Star recruit according to Rivals.com and his school is considered a pipeline to the Michigan Wolverines, quite a get for the Buckeyes. He considers himself a solid commit for Urban Meyer although Michigan might continue to pursue him until signing day 2014. He also had offers from Michigan State, Illinois, and LSU.

We don’t get interview films too often but this is a great one of Kam Williams, a recent 2013 Ohio State commit. Williams discusses his strengths and weaknesses in addition to when he started playing basketball. The 6’3” 175lbs Williams has great quickness and a nice jumper from mid-range. He can also take the ball to the basket when needed. He had a lot of scholarship offers including Clemson, Marquette, Miami (FL), Rutgers and Wake Forest. Rated the 23rd best shooting guard in the country by Rivals.com, he recently receive an offer from Ohio State and committed for their upcoming class.
