Jerome Baker Flips From Florida to Ohio State

Losing one of the best Ohio prospects to the Florida Gators didn’t sit well with Urban Meyer so he continued to pursue Jerome Baker from Cleveland Benedictine long after his summer commitment. The 6’1” 205lbs four star linebacker flipped his commitment finally on Tuesday this week after months of Ohio State still recruiting him. He thanked the Florida Gator fans online while announcing that he had made the switch. He is currently rated the 4th best ‘athlete’ (meaning he can play multiple positions, as he plays running back in high school) in the country. Is considered an outside linebacker at the next level and is praised for his ability to chase down players in the backfield, cover, and having good ball skills.

Baker was in Columbus for the Cincinnati game this year, wearing a Buckeye ball cap, and meeting with Gene Smith and Mark Pantoni (player personnel director). According to Baker, both members of the OSU staff encouraged him to stay home (stay in Ohio) for his college years. All the attention paid off for the Buckeyes this week. He joins other in-state linebackers in the class Justin Hilliard (St Xavier) and Nick Connor (Dublin Scioto). He became the 18th commit for OSU’s 2015 class and one of the most exciting for Buckeye fans.
