Garrett Wilson Officially Commits to Ohio State

It's official! On April 29, five-star wide receiver, Garrett Wilson made a firm commitment to go to Ohio State rather than University of Texas Austin.

Considered the fifth-best wide receiver and overall number 29 prospect in the Class of 19, Wilson was not short on offers with more than 30.

Spent Time in Dublin Ohio

Even though he spent his formative years in Texas, having moved from Dublin, Ohio to Lake Travis in the 6th grade, Garret Wilson still remembers his Ohio roots and had good things to say about Buckeye fans. He referred to them as "best in the country" and remembers the atmosphere at Ohio State as, "awesome".

In late March, Wilson made a trip back to attend a Spring practice. He was able to visit relatives and friends who still lived in the Columbus area and then met on campus with Ohio State's coaching staff including Urban Meyer, Zach Smith, and Ryan Day. Wilson noted that Ohio State could set him up for the NFL draft but if for some reason things didn't work out they could provide opportunities and connections that would enable him to be successful even after football.

Garrett Wilson’s Second Visit to OSU

When Wilson came back to Columbus, Ohio for his second visit in early April, he brought his parents and the trip did not disappoint. During this second visit, Wilson met and visited with Michael Thomas, NFL wide receiver for New Orleans and former Buckeye.

Memories of his visits to Ohio State stayed with him through his official visit to Austin and ultimately led to his decision to return to Ohio and play for the Buckeyes.
