The new head coach hire of Urban Meyer at Ohio State has quickly made a difference in recruiting. Ricquan Southward of Lakeland Florida switched his verbal commitment from Miami (FL) to Ohio State just this past week. He cited the education opportunities in Ohio for his decision to make the change. In this highlight video of players from Polk County, Southward shows his ability on the offensive side of the ball starting at the 11:49 point in the video. He had the ability to go up in traffic to pull down a catch in the end zone. On punt returns, he can shed defenders to gain positive yards. He shows great speed getting round the edge of punt return coverage for decent yards. And he is a tall possession receiver who catches the fade route really well. Ohio State now has 4 receivers in their 2012 class, adding to their young receiving corp.
