New PSU head coach Bill O’Brien, the unluckiest guy in the world, takes over a program under severe penalty from the NCAA this season. At the Big Ten Media Days this week if responded to questions about limited scholarships, which he feels he can overcome with in-state talent willing to pay for the education. He has been very outspoken about what Penn State is going to do to combat the sanctions including having special games at home that will be built up similar to bowl games.
He seems confident that the players will stay in the program even as his most talent running back visits USC for a possible transfer. He stated over the week that he has over 50 kids that have already pledged to stay with the program even though they cannot compete for a Big Ten title or play in a bowl game for the next 4 years.
