2014 Offensive Tackle Kyle Trout Commits to Ohio State

Ohio State was a little short in their numbers on the offensive line for their 2013 class so they went out right away and got local product Kyle Trout from Lancaster Ohio who is a national 250 Rivals recruit and should rank among the elite tackles in the 2014 class. The 6’6” 280 lbs. offensive lineman already had offers from Indiana, Illinois, Michigan State, and West Virginia. Ed Warinner and Luke Fickell were able to make contact early and close the deal this past weekend in Columbus.

He is the 2nd offensive line recruit in the class of 2014 joining Cleveland Glennville standout Marcelys Jones. When the 2014 class is final about a year from now, there could be a total of five players for the o-line which is a big need with a number of starters graduating. Trout has been praised by recruiting services for his size and strength. He also has the speed also that colleges like today, getting out into space and blocking is not an issue. At Lancaster he often is involved in sweeps were he leads the tailback out of the backfield.

The only issue with his game at the high school level is the limited pass protection that he is required to provide. But a year in the program should increase his knowledge, skills, and size so that he can look at competing for a position his second year on campus.
