2014 Dareian Watkins Galion Athlete Updates His Recruiting

Dareian Watkins from Galion Ohio is rated as one of the best recruits for the upcoming 2014 class. Rivals.com has him rated as a 4 star recruit in their early national rating. He has offers from over 20 mid-west schools including Wisconsin, West Virginia, Purdue and Iowa. We recently discussed with him his college visit plans in addition to where teams stand with him over-all. He is yet to receive an offer from Urban Meyer and the Ohio State football program but has strong interest in the in-state program.

Watkins feels that his versatility is a great asset for him at the college level. “I've been told that my best asset is my versatility. I think I'm able to play multiple positions at a high level. A lot of people know that I can play QB or WR. I also play 3 positions on defense, return punts/kicks and I'm a punter too.” he explained to us.

He met a number of his goals this past season and hopes to play early at the next level. “This year we were able to accomplish our 2 main goals of winning an outright league championship and making the playoffs. I would like to earn early playing time if possible. I want to play for a winning program or have a big part in helping a team become a winning program.”

Watkins is looking forward to a couple of high caliber school visits in the near future. “I have taken a lot of visits and I plan to take a break for awhile. I will visit Wisconsin and Ohio State in the near future. I might go to Michigan State for their basketball game against OSU.”

“Right now I'm getting to know coaches better at each school. I like Coach Fitzgerald at Northwestern and Coach Beckman at Illinois a lot. I'm learning more about OSU and Wisconsin.” He told us about the schools that he leans towards in his current recruitment.
