D'Angelo Russell Joins Ohio State Basketball For 2014
Ohio State Basketball has managed to acquire an electrifying young talent from the recruiting class of 2014, after Jeff Borzello (from CBSSports.com) verified that D'Angelo Russell has pledged to sign for the Buckeyes. Russell, a shooting guard from Montverde Academy, is a 5 star pick, who is rated 20th in the 2014 list of top recruits compiled by 247Sports.com. The 6 foot 4 inch junior from Louisville chose the Buckeyes in preference to teams like North Carolina and Michigan State.
Russell revealed that he had been evaluating his options for a while, but had never got round to shortening his list. However, now he claims that Ohio State is the team he wants to play for, so he made a snap decision. All things considered, Russell says, the move is the best thing for his career.
Now that Russell has joined Ohio, the Buckeyes have 4 new players from the 2014 class -- he follows in the footsteps of fellow 5 star signing Keita Bates Diop, as well as David Bell (the 3 star power forward) and Jae'Sean Tate. Russell says that getting to play with Bates Diop was a big factor in his choice to join Ohio State. Next, the Buckeyes will do their best to acquire center Jahlil Okafor, who is top of the composite ratings. Russell, who is still only 17 years old, thinks he can assist with this. Recently, Russell highlighted his success with Dakari Johnson as evidence that he can play well with big players, and help coaches to land them.
