Ohio State Goes After 2015 Football Recruits

Patrick Allen

Spring practice is happening at the Ohio State campus and it has given the coaching staff an opportunity to host many of the top prospects in the state of Ohio on campus for football visits. The coaching staff hopes they can land a couple key recruits for the 2015 class during the spring football period.

Offensive Lineman Patrick Allen from Reiserstown Maryland came to campus last week along with another younger player from his team (wide receiver Steven Smothers) Allen could play a couple of positions on the line and really liked what he say during spring practice. He is deciding between OSU and Florida State and might wait until after football season.

Two players from Cleveland Benedictine visited Ohio State practice on Thursday and Friday of last week including Jerome Baker (a junior linebacker/tailback) and Justin Layne (a sophomore). At the end of the visit Baker was leaning towards the Buckeyes. He has been pursued by Penn State most recently in addition to OSU.

Wide Receiver Van Jefferson was in town along with his father, NFL coach Shawn Jefferson. Both recruit and father wanted to see the OSU offense up-close and liked what they saw on campus. He plans on making a decision a little sooner than others and could be one of the early members of the 2015 class.

Finally, running back LJ Scott made it to OSU this weekend from Dayton Hubbard. He is strongly considering playing in East Lansing for the Spartans, the Buckeyes were hoping to change his mind. The visit seems to have gone well and Scott is know considering both schools for college.
