Ohio State Enters The Radar Of Texas Standouts

Jeffrey Okudah

A couple of prospects from Longhorn State traveled to Columbus during the weekend. This gave them the opportunity to check out the campus in person. While there, they mingled with the coaching team of Ohio State and Urban Meyer. There's a good chance that Jeffrey Okudah and Baron Browning, five star recruits from the 2017 class, will have been impressed by what they saw in Capital City.

If recruitment is about forming strong relationships, this is precisely what the Buckeyes have attempted to do with the duo from Texas. Holding the OSU in high esteem during their weekend meeting, it was the 195 pound, six foot one inch standout from South Grand Prairie High, Okudah's second visit to OSU. Browning, on the other hand, was making the journey north for the first time.

Both prospects have had more than thirty scholarship offers each. Stanford and Alabama - to name just a few - are in the running for Okudah, however some insiders think that he will wind up opting for Ohio State ultimately.

Browning is not such a sure bet though. All indications suggest that his OSU trip went well, however he hasn't finished researching college programs just yet. Next month, the 230 pound, six foot three inch Kennedale, Texas resident will meet with Notre Dame to keep his options open.

With almost eight months remaining until the day of national signing, and Greg Schiano, Urban Meyer and Tim Beck (among others) in predator mode, might the Buckeyes hit the Texas jackpot once more? At this stage, the most we can say is that time will tell.
