Dane Goodwin, who had previously committed to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes when he was a freshman in high school, has now de-committed from the Ohio State team. His decision now effectively leaves Ohio State's 2018 recruiting class with no firm prospects. Goodwin, a four-star shooting guard and Columbus native, is the No. 75 overall prospect for his class year, according to composite rankings. He is also Ohio's fourth-rated recruit. However, 270hoops.com reports that Ohio State may still remain an option for Goodwin, who first committed to the Buckeyes in December 2014. Notre Dame is also pursuing the Upper Arlington Ohio recruit. Now that the Buckeyes have parted ways with their head coach, Thad Matta, Goodwin has stated that he would remain committed to Ohio State in the wake of Matta's release. But, not surprisingly, it appears that Goodwin is waiting to see which new coach Ohio State will hire as Matta's replacement before making a final decision. Another forward in the 2018 recruiting class, Justin Ahrens, also de-committed from the Buckeyes following the coaching change. However, like Goodwin, Ahrens says he will still consider the Buckeyes once the new coach is named. In addition, Darius Bazley, the No. 1-ranked player of the 2018 class, has not announced if he is waiting for the coaching change to be finalized with Chris Holtmann before making a decision.
