Wide receiver Caleb Burton III from Del Valle Texas committed to be a member of Ohio State’s 2022 recruiting class Monday. Burton is considered the 2nd best receiver in the country for the 2022 cycle and the 15th best overall prospect. He was recruited by Buckeye coach Brian Hartline and joins Southlake Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers as the 2nd 5 star recruit to commit to Ohio State in the last 4 days. Why Burton Selected Ohio StateThe 6’ 165 lbs. receiver was looking at Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas, Florida, and Ohio State. He had a great relationship with OSU recruiter and wide receiver’s coach Brian Hartline leading him to make the move this week. It also did not hurt that Ohio State has had great success with recent wide receivers going to the NFL. Finally Burton mentioned when committing that he has had a relationship with Ewers, saw him play in the state playoffs in Texas, and wants to be a part of the team that has Ewers throwing the ball. Other friends that Burton has on the team include Texas high school wide receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Garrett Wilson. He has watches both players this season at Ohio State and is impressed with their development. Burton’s dad, Charles Burton, grew up in Texas and left to play college ball at Syracuse, so leaving the state has not been an issue for Burton.
